Restitution opens tomorrow, this past week has been a blur what with Southbank Centre show as well as starting rehearsals for Meri Neighbour. But we had the get in at the King's Head Theatre today and things have been going well. In a bit of a coma from sheer exhaustion of past few weeks. I haven't really stopped yet this month! I recall Garrett observing my subdued mood (from being so drained) at Schadenfreude at the end of last month. It hasn't really stopped since!
I really like Restitution. It deals with Nazi confiscation of art and then delves into the questions of who owns art (and can it be owned). Its simply presented using two characters and you can see both sides of the debate but not side with either. Its so beautifully written (by Emily Juniper) and so well acted and directed (by Alistair Kirton/Chloe Gilgallon and Julia McShane) that I'm sorry I'm backstage and can only hear whats happening.
The set (designed on top of main show at KH) is elegantly lovely, the sound is haunting and beautiful and the lighting is superb. Its just a combination of well executed elements all contributing to a gem of a show. Which probably makes me something of the weak link. But I'll get some sleep soon, so I'll bring it for our opening night :)
