Location: Sheffield
Another Fringe done.
One epic coach ride and an even more epic sleep, I am feeling more like a human being. The come-down from this festival really is something. The Twittersphere is abuzz with comedian's progress in recovery. Sleep patterns and immune systems are in disarray.
It's been a great month - not without it's lows - but a fun and busy August. I've seen loads of fantastic shows, some twice! And I've worked some amazing gigs, hosted in great venues with delightful crew. The staff at Pleasance are always great, which I knew from previous years as one of them, but they've been so welcoming and happy to have us it's been a joy.
Jenny Fawcett (aka Louise Ford) got me up to tap in her final show which was lovely and scary (I don't belong onstage!) it was a fun final show and I was a little teary when she tapped offstage for the last time.
Prize for best venue crew has to go to the Attic crew for performing the entirety of Ford and Akram's show "Bamp!" in a lovely techie spoof performance to mark our final day of the Fringe. The boys learned the entire show which was such a giggle to watch. Yasmine, wearing a Pleasance hoodie for full role reversal, was with me on the tech desk doing lights - she smashed it! After the spoof (well attended by other crew, staff and other artists) we did the show itself for the last time.
Then Ed Eales-White's last gig, which was a great final performance, and that was it.
Another Fringe over.
Some numbers trivia for you:
30 days in Edinburgh
(completely sober no less - a personal victory).
5 shows in 5 venues.
123 gigs teched.
4 visitors.
50 business cards distributed for various work agendas.
Another 30 distributed in the name of Plain Sight's performance art agenda.
13 hours epic sleep to recover.
Now for 10 days of "annual leave" I am self imposing a break in Sheffield where I catch up on sleep (done), spend some time with friends, family and girlfriend, work on Absent Theatre's next production, my own writing project and just have a more relaxed time before I jump back into work.
Hooray!
Amy
