Hidden in Plain Sight

This weekend sees the launch of Plain Sight, a creative partnership between myself and Caecilie Hougaard Pedersen, a producer and work colleague I met in 2011 while working on the In The Night Garden LIVE tour.

We have since met again at Greenwich Theatre, where we have both worked Front of House and from discussions about projects we would like to achieve we have formed a partnership working on new and surprising theatrical work in London.

Our first project is a series of conversations from theatre, set in public locations in London. I initially had the idea for the project when I considered the juxtaposition of the intimate discussions frequently held in public, in cafes and pubs and on streets and tube platforms, completely exposed and vulnerable to eavesdropping from strangers. These strangers are drawn in by a word or phrase which piques their curiosity and they may continue to listen to the conversation nearby. A small slice of entertainment in their daily routine. We all do it, it's a fascinating to hear another's conversation.

We're launching this weekend with 4 days of performance across London. Yesterday we began with Camden and are returning today before moving on to Borough Market and Brick Land Saturday and Sunday respectively. It's looking promising and we hope to gain an Internet following via our Twitter feed (@Plain_Sight_) for future performances. The hope is to take it to Edinburgh during the Fringe, so I can carry this out alongside my tech work (which is going rather well too).
