24th Birthday Present: Fuerzabruta

OK.

Its 6 months until I officially turn 24 (almost quarter of a century. Exciting.) But I have booked my birthday present to myself already. A bit premature? Probably. But tickets for this wonder will sell out quickly so I wanted to get on it.

On Sunday the 6th January at 8pm I will be in the Camden Roundhouse, ready to see the return performance of Fuerzabruta (Brute Force). I am ridiculously excited!

I saw Fuerzabruta in 2007 at Edinburgh Fringe, it was amazing and stuck with me ever since. Nothing I have seen since has come close to how exhilirating this performance is. Academically, it spawned a first year essay and third year dissertation at university. Personally, I have never been moved so profoundly or inexplicably by a performance. To describe it is to lessen its effect. I can't begin to describe how it made me feel or what about it was so fantastic (its pretty obvious what makes it so fantastic once you see it but it is difficult to communicate).

I'm so happy the performance is returning - and on my birthday! Its been 5 years and details still remain (though I imagine I have forgotten enough to be excited to remember it again). I've booked two tickets (of course, I'm not spending my birthday alone!) but the lucky recipient of my second ticket is TBC. The ticket prices are ridiculous. But I know it will be worth every penny. A couple of friends are going under their own steam, they haven't seen it before so they are in for such a treat.

I would put a link to the trailer on this post. But considering the people who read my blog are the ones who might end up coming to the show with me (and I want to keep it a secret for them to discover themselves) I shan't. Just in case :)
