Edinburgh Fringe 2012: Week Two (Fun)

Another week of lovely shows in between my hectic work week (see Week 2 (Work) post).

4:30pm - McNeil and Pamphillon (Pleasance Baby Grand)

I've seen these guys in London at Schadenfreude a couple of times and loved their stuff - so I made a point of running from my Ford and Akram gig to see them before my Ed Eales-White gig. Ended up on the front row, having one Steve McNeil singing into my face. A very funny hour which utilises the boys' relationship perfectly. Go see it!!

11pm - Humphrey Ker (Pleasance Queen Dome)

Mr Ker returns for a week long run of last year's award-winning show 'Humphrey Ker is Dymock Watson: Nazi Smasher'. I saw this last year and had to see it again! Character comedy with a fantastic narrative. The awareness of the show is also artfully referenced - with a mention of the award thrown in for good measure. My Edinburgh partner-in-crime Lucy Barrie was the venue manager of Pleasance Upstairs, where the show ran last year. Thought of her while I was in the audience. Lucy isn't up this year and I'm feeling her absence around the courtyard (and in the flat at 3am for wine, Ben & Jerry's ice cream and a good gossip).

10:30pm - The Table (Pleasance Beyond)

A great hour of improv puppetry. Very funny and makes me want to branch out into using puppetry! Tailed off towards the end, feeling laboured and I felt so drained afterwards. Not what I wanted to take from the evening, but totally worth the visit.

In addition to these lovely shows, I want to mention the following shows which I can't see myself due to my work schedule - so please see them for me and feedback accordingly!

Michelle Wormleighton - Bewildered

Teched a couple of previews for this show and wished I could have fit this into my work schedule. But I can't even see it (boo hiss). Michelle presents a series of characters skilfully acted, with references to David Lynch, Bill and Ted, from the Victorian era and sometimes not even human! My favourites includes Time Travelling Miss Polly and Georges The Spider.

Sam Fletcher - Good on Paper

Again, seen his previews in London and loved the show. Really imaginative, vibrant and funny.

Suzi Ruffell (Pleasance Cellar)

I would have loved to see Ms Ruffell's show as she covers material about coming out to her parents - to see a stand up talking about this experience would be wonderful as I could completely identify with it - I've just come out to my father in Edinburgh.

Also these great shows will escape me! So sad.

Cariad Lloyd (Pleasance Cellar)

Nick Helm (Pleasance Queendome)

Sheeps (Pleasance Beside)
