It's a busy week for two companies very close to my heart. Both Absent Theatre and Plain Sight Productions (the companies I have launched this year) are having performances at the weekend!
Plain Sight, founded by Cæcilie Hougaard Pedersen and myself, is launching its second production this year.
'The Night Before Christmas' is a 20min performance using shadow puppetry and movement to interact with the classic poem by Clarke Clement Moore. Cæcilie has created and directed the performance from scratch through workshops and I'm stage managing. Today was our last rehearsal. It's looking great! I'm really excited for our first performance on Saturday at Deptford Lounge Library.
Absent Theatre, which I run with my friend and playwright Eleanor Rodda, is staging it's sixth production this year. 'Fragments of an Artist' is a collection of short pieces by Eleanor, directed by myself. Rehearsals have been, ironically, fragmented between the pieces, bringing together elements slowly around the availabilities of 8 very busy artists.
At the same time I'm directing Stand and Deliver, which opens in a mere fortnight. That's coming together, tonight was very productive and I'm really enjoying working with a big cast on this original musical.
